We try to write a new preCICE referential paper every 2-3 years. For the current version please use:
Bungartz, H.J., Lindner, F., Gatzhammer, B., Mehl, M., Scheufele, K., Shukaev, A. and Uekermann, B., 2016. preCICE–a fully parallel library for multi-physics surface coupling. Computers & Fluids , 141 , pp. 250-258.
You can get a bibtex from here: https://www.precice.org/publications/
Of course, for specific aspects or adapters, there is additional literature. Have a look at our literature guide.
Since 2022, there is a new reference paper:
Gerasimos Chourdakis, Kyle Davis, Benjamin Rodenberg, Miriam Schulte, Frédéric Simonis, Benjamin Uekermann et al. preCICE v2: A sustainable and user-friendly coupling library [version 2; peer review: 2 approved]. Open Res Europe 2022, 2 :51 (https://doi.org/10.12688/openreseurope.14445.2)
Please read and cite this paper for any new publications that are not specific to preCICE v1. A lot has changed since the first preCICE paper on 2016.
