GSOC 2026 - Nishant Singh

Hi preCICE community! :waving_hand:

My name is Nishant Singh. I currently serve as the Google Developer Group Lead at AIT Pune, and I am reaching out because I am highly interested in contributing to preCICE and targeting Google Summer of Code (GSoC) 2026 with preCICE.

Open source has been a big part of my journey over the last 1.5 years—learning in public, raising PRs, fixing issues, and collaborating with amazing communities. I’ve successfully merged 30+ PRs across organizations like The Palisadoes Foundation, Open Library, KGateway, and Layer5 (you can view my contribution log here: https://t.co/hrAxO8JknZ).

After consistent contributions, I was recently selected as a mentee for the Linux Foundation Mentorship (LFX) under the CNCF for the KubeEdge: Ianvs Comprehensive Example Restoration (2026 Term 1) project.

A bit more about my development background:

  • Production Platforms: I work extensively with Next.js. I recently developed the RavenAI platform end-to-end (https://t.co/s6TR0aoe40), alongside full platforms for major developer events like Innerve X (https://t.co/LqDa8dFSJt) and Spark 2K25 (https://t.co/iRoqQAlC7j).

  • Hackathons: I won “Build on Aptos” and “Build on Stellar,” and received special mentions in two others.

I am really excited to grow, give back, and make meaningful contributions to preCICE. I am currently setting up the project locally and looking through the issue tracker, but I would love any pointers on the best areas or beginner-friendly issues to tackle first for a prospective GSoC contributor.

Looking forward to interacting with you all!

Warm regards, Nishant Singh

Hi @Makis Sir, for the entry-test I have made the following changes to the preCICE website:

  • I am a designer + developer myself, so I have made some changes to the design.

  • Successfully built the entire website locally.

  • Implemented a full Light/Dark mode toggle from scratch, with local-storage persistence so the user’s preference is remembered across sessions.

  • Got the Algolia search fully functional by upgrading to the v4 API and wiring it cleanly to the Hugo configuration.

  • Designed and added a new contributor-friendly footer that makes it easier for newcomers to navigate and engage with the preCICE community.

The live link to the newly designed website can be found here: https://2-one-sigma.vercel.app/

While working on the website, I also noticed a few UI and content issues and have opened the following issues in the preCICE repository:

  • #871 — Typos found in docs and community pages

  • #867 — Funding page: uneven card gaps and mismatched heights

  • #866 — FAQ section: page jumps to top when “More questions” button is clicked

  • #864 — USP cards on landing page have unequal heights in some resolutions

@Makis sir, I would like to kindly ask if you have any questions or require further clarification regarding my approach. I would be glad to discuss any aspect of the proposal at your convenience. I look forward to your feedback.

@NishantSinghhhhh the deadline for organizations to submit rankings is now over.

Thank you already for the contributions so far (PRs and issues). We will open PRs again soon.
