GSoC 2026 Introduction - Hanzalah Waheed - Primary focus: Website Modernisation

Hello everyone,

My name is Hanzalah. I’m a Software Engineer at StockInsights.ai, where I own the entire frontend built with React and Next.js. I’ve also worked extensively on applied AI features, including LLM integrations and semantic search systems.

My OSS work includes contributions to DocsGPT (https://github.com/arc53/DocsGPT) and some other minor PRs: mlh-PR-samples.txt · GitHub

Also, I recent got my first PR merged in the PreCICE docs repository. (yay!)

Motivation for GSoC

I’m striving to achieve excellence as an engineer, and I see GSoC as an opportunity to deeply engage with a serious open source project over a sustained period. The tech industry is evolving rapidly, and I want to meaningfully contribute while learning from experienced maintainers and working within a mature, high-quality codebase.

Interest in preCICE

I like what preCICE has been doing in the OSS space for so long, and congratulations to the maintainers as well for being selected in GSoC. I primarily come from a web dev background, so naturally I’m inclined towards the website migration project and the systems testing project listed here: https://precice.org/community-contribute-open-projects.html

Availability

I am totally available for the project and can easily dedicate 20–25 hours per week. Also, I work remotely at my current org, and async work and communication comes naturally to me.

Technical exp:

  • TypeScript, Javascript, HTML, CSS and modern other web frameworks (Next.js)

  • Python for backend systems and applied AI workflows

  • PostgreSQL, database schema design, and performance optimisation

  • REST APIs and backend architecture design

  • LLM integration and semantic search systems

  • Git-based collaborative workflows

Git and GitHub exp:

I have extensive experience with Git and GitHub. I’ve been using it since my first year of college, so about 5 years now. The newest thing I learnt in Git is managing git-worktrees, especially as it is getting popular with coding agents and multitasking.

I’m looking forward to learning from the community, contributing meaningfully, and collaborating with everyone here.

Thank you :))
