GSoC 2026 Applicant – Interested in System Tests Improvements

Hello everyone,

My name is Tanisha Suhag, and I am a B.Tech student currently in my 4th semester. I am very interested in contributing to preCICE as part of Google Summer of Code 2026.

I am particularly interested in the “System Tests Improvements” project because it combines multiple technologies such as Python, Docker, and GitHub Actions. I am excited about the idea of improving CI pipelines, optimizing test execution, and working on automation that impacts multiple repositories.

What motivates me to spend this summer on GSoC is the opportunity to deeply understand a real-world scientific software ecosystem and contribute meaningfully to an active open-source community instead of doing a traditional internship.

My relevant skills:

  • Python (data structures, scripting, debugging)

  • Git & GitHub (forking, pull requests, resolving review comments)

  • Basic experience with Docker (still improving)

  • Familiar with Linux environment

I have started exploring the preCICE repository.

I would appreciate any guidance on how to proceed effectively.

Thank you!

Best regards,
Tanisha

Welcome, @Tanisha, and sorry for not answering earlier. It looked like we were already interacting with everyone on PRs on GitHub, this was more than we expected.

We do mostly rely on Linux, and all of these are useful skills. It’s clear that there has been a lot of traffic on the system tests scripts over the past weeks, and we have temporarily disabled PRs, but we are happy to review small contributions in that or any other repository once we are back into “normal operation” again.
