GSOC 2026 - Eshaan Gupta

Hi everyone,

My name is Eshaan, and I’m a final-year student at Victoria University, Australia. I started contributing to open source during Hacktoberfest 2025, where I had 6 PRs merged. That experience pushed me to keep contributing regularly instead of only coding on personal projects.

I’ve worked mainly with C++ and Python, and I’m comfortable using GitHub workflows and Docker. Previously, I contributed to Kestra and the Godot Engine.

I became interested in preCICE while looking through GSoC projects focused on C++ and infrastructure work rather than feature development. The System Test Improvement project stood out because it involves improving CI and performance testing directly in the core workflow. After exploring the repository and related issues, it felt like a place where I could contribute something practical while learning how large scientific software projects handle testing and regression checks.

So far, I’ve submitted PR #2465 to the core repository, adding a GitHub Actions workflow for performance regression testing based on issue #1749, which is currently under review with @fsimonis.

I don’t have other commitments during the program period, so I can fully dedicate my time to the project.
