There are multiple OpenFOAM “variants”, including [openfoam.com](http://openfoam.com), [openfoam.org](http://openfoam.org), and the early fork foam-extend. Which versions of them are compatible?

We aim to always support the latest versions from [openfoam.com](http://openfoam.com) and [openfoam.org](http://openfoam.org). The current details are described in the wiki page [Notes on OpenFOAM](https://github.com/precice/openfoam-adapter/wiki/Notes-on-OpenFOAM). This, however, gets more and more difficult over time, as described in [this issue](https://github.com/precice/openfoam-adapter/issues/32).

The master branch should always work with the latest ESI/OpenCFD version ([openfoam.com](http://openfoam.com)). Other versions may require to checkout a different git branch.

foam-extend is not currently supported by the official adapter, as there are too many differences in the code. However, a port would be welcome and we are happy to help.

Other variants have not been tested.
